When you have a new baby on the way and are planning a baby shower family and friends intend to attend, it’s wise to register at a variety of different stores. Registering ensures that you receive baby shower gifts you want, and also gifts that you don’t intend to purchase or own at the current time. Some common stores where people will shop for baby gifts include Target, Wal-Mart, Macy’s, JC Penney, Sears, or other common department stores near your location. It is wise to register for several gifts even though you might want certain gifts more than others. Stores will often run out of stock, or not carry some items depending on demand and location.
For those special people in your life, it never hurts to hint at the gifts you want the most so you’re certain to get them. It is also smart to prepare some baby shower favors so that the guests at your gathering have a memento to remember you and your baby by.
If you’ve ever been invited to a bridal shower, it’s very likely that you’ve delivered a small sigh of trepidation. Many shower parties, after all, can be full of awkward games and forced chitchat. That’s why every bridal shower should be limited to a small group of close friends. In this way, there will be less lags and lulls at your party. Also, make sure your activities are actually something fun and different.
For example, have everyone in the bridal shower party create their own pizza. You can go as elaborate or as simple as you want with this, but it’s a great activity everyone can enjoy. Plus, it will cut down on food or catering costs, because you can eat your creations when they’re done. As bridal shower favors, include love themed pizza cutters. They’re practical, and they’re a fun reminder of the party!

In many Christian denominations, baptism is a momentous rite of passage. Children might not remember many details of an event that takes place so early in their lives; for parents and extended family, however, every detail counts. Some baptismal ceremonies are performed before an entire church congregation, which only adds to the event’s prestige.
Baptism gifts should be more than ephemeral items to be consumed and discarded. The most thoughtful presents can be enjoyed as keepsakes for years to come, and they should include a personal touch. That’s not to say that all baptism gifts should be handmade, but they should at least offer some suggestion of a close personal connection.
I have worn some really ugly bridesmaid dresses, but the last wedding I was in was the worst. Belinda was getting married, and I was her maid of honor. We had been best friends since we were in nappies, and I would do anything for her. That includes wearing the most hideous dress I had ever laid eyes on. The thing was horrible. First off the colors included cotton-candy pink, baby blue and lemon yellow. Some could have mistaken me for an Easter egg! The layered-chiffon monstrosity was ruffled around the neck and on the trim, and had a gigantic bow at the waist. Even worse all the bridesmaids had to wear white stockings with the dress. Not only did I look like an Easter egg, but I looked like a fat Easter egg.
The only thing that got me through the entire production was the thought of the expensive bridesmaid gifts I knew Belinda would give us. I participated in the wedding because I loved my best bud, but I’ll tell you what—the diamond necklace she gave me didn’t hurt.
